Nasdara, our sixth DayZ map, opens October 15 with DayZ update 1.30.

Rust: how our servers play

Our three Rust servers, called Hazard's Island, are vanilla: the game plays as Facepunch made it. A small server-side add-on of ours runs next to it; you download nothing for it. Here is what it does, and how our servers are set.

The basics

  • Vanilla. Nothing to download.
  • 50 players per server, teams of up to 8, no alliances.
  • Three servers, three wipe rhythms: Weekly, Biweekly and Monthly.
  • Monthly is PVE: players can't hurt each other there, and raiding is against the rules (below).
  • Premium servers: your Steam account needs at least $15 US of Rust items to see and join them (below).

Half upkeep

  • A base costs half the usual upkeep. Building costs are normal.

Restarts and updates

  • One restart a day, in the early morning (Alberta Time). The times are on the Servers page. Every planned restart, update or wipe is announced in game 30, 20, 15, 5 and 1 minute before; a server with nobody on restarts right away.
  • After a game update the servers come back as soon as our server add-on is ready for it. The server status channel on our Discord says so while they wait.
What our add-on does for you
  • A private welcome when you join, and chat commands whose answers only you see (below).
  • Links your Steam account to our Discord with /link, and shows your own numbers with /stats.
  • Counts your play time fairly: idle time does not count (below).
  • A title in chat for what you do most (below).
  • Feeds our Discord: the kill feed, the leaderboards, your medals.
  • It changes nothing in how the game plays: no kits, no extra loot, no teleport. The servers stay in the game's Community list.
Monthly is PVE
  • Players can't hurt each other on Monthly: the game turns the damage back on the one who shot.
  • Raiding is against the rules there: other players' doors, walls and boxes are off limits. The game does not stop every hit on a door or a box, so our add-on warns you and tells staff who damaged what.
  • Traps and turrets are allowed. Scientists, animals, the patrol helicopter and Bradley are as dangerous as anywhere.
  • Monthly's kills count for nothing: no kill feed, no PvP medals or titles come from it. Its own leaderboard counts time played, scientists, animals, helicopters, barrels and crates.
  • The lifetime leaderboard and your /stats card: Kills, deaths and K/D: Weekly and Biweekly. Time played: all three servers.
Premium servers
  • All three are Premium servers: to see and join them you need at least $15 US of Rust items in your Steam inventory. That is Facepunch's own rule for Premium servers, and it keeps throwaway accounts out.
  • Without that, the game does not show our servers at all. Items from the game's store and tradable Rust items count; DLC packs do not.
Wipes
  • Wipes happen on Thursdays at Facepunch's forced-wipe hour: about noon Alberta Time (1 pm from late October to late March).
  • Weekly: every Thursday. Biweekly: the first and third Thursday of the month. Monthly: the first Thursday.
  • The first Thursday of the month is Facepunch's forced wipe: all three servers wipe as soon as the update is out and our add-on is ready for it.
  • A new random map every wipe, size between 3500 and 4500. The Servers page shows each server's current size and seed.
  • Blueprints are kept at normal wipes. Facepunch forces a blueprint wipe a few times a year.
  • The wipe countdown in game shows each server's real next wipe.
Idle time
  • Idle time does not count. After 30 minutes without moving, your time stops counting toward hours and medals until you move again.
  • Nobody is kicked for being idle unless the server is full: then players idle for 60 minutes or more may be kicked to make room.
Chat commands
  • Type them in the game's chat. Nobody else sees the line, and the answer is only for you.
  • /help the list, right in game.
  • /stats your hours, sessions, kills, deaths, K/D, headshots, longest kill, best kill streak and wipes on that server.
  • /discord our Discord invite. /link gives you a code to link your Steam account on our Discord; /link CODE takes a code you got on Discord. The Link Steam page has the easy way.
  • /mute day, week, month or year: no medal reminders for that long (/mute alone: a week). /unmute turns them back on.
  • A private welcome when you join.
Titles in chat
  • Your name in global chat carries a title for what you did most recently: Killer, Sharpshooter, Raider, Builder, Crafter, Gatherer, Scavenger or Hunter. Until you earn one it reads Survivor.
  • It is looked at when you join and every so often. A wipe clears it.
Kill feed, leaderboards and medals
  • Player kills on Weekly and Biweekly are posted on our Discord 10 minutes later, with the weapon, the distance and whether it was a headshot, never a position. Monthly is PVE: nothing from it.
  • Leaderboards on our Discord: this wipe on each server, and lifetime. Kills, K/D, longest kill, headshot kills, best kill streak and time played; Monthly's board is a PVE board (time played, scientists, animals, helicopters, barrels, crates). In the lifetime board: Kills, deaths and K/D: Weekly and Biweekly. Time played: all three servers.
  • Medals and a stats card for what you do on our servers: /medals and /stats on our Discord, once your Steam account is linked.
Reports
  • Report a player with F7 in game, or open a ticket on our Discord. Please don't call out cheaters in chat: admins check the logs.

The rules are on the Rules page. One ban covers every one of our servers.
